Ba- Humbug!

Are you as frustrated as I am about the Holiday Season?  It seems as though everywhere I turn is bad news and shopping in a crowded places.  This week has been especially difficult.

Historically, the Holidays meant happy times.  Spending time with your family, singing Christmas Carols, drinking egg nog, and having friends over to share the season.   Now, it is filled with fighting with your family, throwing snowballs at Carollers, drunkenness, and shopping for gifts that no one wants anyway--including your friends.  Something needs to change.

What? Munga Honorable attacked?

It was reported that dancehall artist Munga and the Dee jay, Firefly, allegedly was attacked at the Lime Lite Night Club in Half way Tree.   Supposedly, the deejay was attacked first, and approximately 30 minutes later Munga was allegedly attacked.

Earlier, the attacker and  Munga's entourage associated with the artist were scuffling.

Why bother the Artist?  His entourage was allegedly the culprits.

STOP THE VIOLENCE!

Need a few bucks? Click the link below

You know that I am always scouting for ways to make a couple of bucks right?  Right.  All of the prior websites I have directed you to in my posts are all legitimate ways to make money online.  I KNOW they are reputable because I have received checks or paypal deposits for participation.  I am not promising that you will get rich from these sites, but they do give you a little extra spending money.  Hey, an extra buck or two sounds great when you are broke!  Inbox Dollars, http://65.98.53.169/~adclicks/inboxdollars/click.php?tid=529716 allows you an opportunity to make money and have some fun doing so.  I researched for other opportunities for cash and saw this website that I have already participated in the past.  I am an active member.  The site Inbox dollars allows you to play games, read emails, and surveys.  When you click on this link, http://65.98.53.169/~adclicks/inboxdollars/click.php?tid=529716
just complete the small form to get you started.  Simple questions, name, email address etc.

I know I have skeptics, so I must tell you to try it out to see for yourself.  Truthfully, I haven't withdrawn money from my active account yet.  However, I am sure it wouldn't be a problem.  My prefered use is to build up money in my account first.  Then when I need my $$$, I'll request for it.  Anyhow, follow this link, http://65.98.53.169/~adclicks/inboxdollars/click.php?tid=529716 to have fun making some extra dough for the Holidays!

Let me know what you think after you made your money.

Oprah's favorite things show impressed, well.... most of us.

I am shocked by the gifts Oprah surprised her audience with yesterday.  The audience received gifts of diamond watches, cruises, 3-D television, clothes, shoes, kitchen items and of course food.  Everyone that was blessed enough to attend her show seemed quite happy to receive their gifts.

However, an author named Janice Taylor from the Huffington post had a problem with Oprah giving away fatty foods.   She writes an article stating that Oprah is keeping America fat. Is she kidding me? She writes that on Oprah's favorite things list included author Marianne Williamson's book, A Course in Weight. This book provides information on how to overcome food addictions.  So, Janice Taylor was exposing the contradiction of Oprah's list and the concept of the book.  She proceeds to write that the Government and Oprah can't, have it both ways....eat fatty foods and give advice on how to break addictions.

I know it is hard to believe, but follow the link to read her article for yourself http://www.huffingtonpost.com/janice-taylor/oprahs-favorite-things-20_b_786370.html I wonder what she'll expose about Monday's list of favorite things.

Okay, I got the scoop on more money saving sites for cheapies like me.  The first is http://www.livingsocial.com/.  This site offers daily deals in Chicago.  For instance, today's deal is receiving a mani/pedicure  plus a glass of wine for only $21!   A savings of 51%, but you must hurry.  The deal has a time limit.

The second site to visit is http://www.eatdrinkdeals.com/ .  This site is FABULOUS!  If you eat on the go like most Americans, then you will love this site.  It has a list of well known restaurants that offer coupons at your favorites.  I saw coupons for White Castle Chicken rings for free w/ purchase.  Yum.

Your Time To Vent

Your Time To Vent
The view is a great show with a lot of controversial issues being discussed daily.  However,  sometimes these main issues spark a little anger every now and then.  Especially today's episode.  The discussion was about Airline security patting down children.  Each host was eager to state their opinion on the topic, when the producers of the show must have told Whoopi, to ask Sherri to take them to break or something.  Just at that moment, Barbara begin to speak and the rest is history.

I don't see what's the big deal with the Airline Security.  We have to take the necessary steps to prevent another travesty like 9/11 from happening again.  You can choose the pat down method, or you can opt for the x-ray feature.  What if there wasn't a x-ray?  Then you would have to be stripped searched.  If it bothers you that much to have either of these things happen, just take a train when you travel.

Losing weight eating junk food? Yeah!

I knew there was a reason why I was slim as a teenager.  Munching on chips, Doritos, and more junk actually attributed to my great physique.   Yeah, right.  Well, according to Professor Kaub at Kansas State University, you can lose weight by eating the junk foods that we adore.  There is a catch.  Just be sure to count your calories.  Hostess, Little Debbie Cakes, Doritos and Oreos was eatened by the Professor for two months.  He lost 27 pounds on the diet he declared as  "The Convenience Store Diet".  He stresses that as long as you keep your caloric intake 1800 calories per day you can shed pounds.  It's the caloric count that matters, not the nutritional value.  To prove his theory, he ate a twinkie every three hours and munched on Little Debbie Cakes and Corn Pops cereal.  In addition to the junk food, the Professor had taken a multi-vitamin each day.

Although the Professor has proven his theory about caloric intake, he does not advise others to partake in this diet plan.  He states that he could not continue this diet for the long haul.  Too many risk factors to your health.

Would you try this diet?  Let me know.

Deals! Deals! and More Black Friday Deals!

Is it time for an upgrade on your television set?  If so, Black Friday is the time to start shopping for televisions dirt cheap!  According to http://www.blackfriday.com/, There are companies beginning to advertise Black Friday deals now.  For instance, a 40" inch Westinghouse television will go for $298 at TARGET!  This site has the secret information on major stores offering big deals on Black Friday that can range from televisions to clothing.   It would be a disservice not to see what is upcoming.  Remember Christmas is less than a month away.

How far are you willing to go for your kids?

After watching different reports on various news channels, I was stunned about one report that a father boarded a school bus, ranting and raging at elementary students. He threatened that he would hurt anyone who bothers his little girl.  Immediately, I thought about a scene from one of Tyler Perry's movies.  Specifically, the scene that "MaDear" stepped onto the school bus to threaten the bullies bothering her family member.  Would you handle this situation the same way?  I don't think the parent would actually hurt any of the students, however, I just think he wanted them to think he would hurt them so the bullying would cease.  Another manner to handle this situation is to ask the school bus driver to watch out for misbehavior.  If the driver didn't do anything about the misbehavior, then, I would get on the bus, talk to the children about bullying and inform them of the effects of bullying.  If that failed, I would contact the principal of the school to notify the parents of the bullies and arrange a meeting.  What would you do?

Elections are over!!!!!!

It took forever for this day to get here.  Finally, a peaceful dinner without annoying interruptions from a recording asking me to vote for a particular candidate.  It is bad enough that the phone ringing disturbed me while eating dinner, but when I answered it, there is a pre-recorded message for me to vote for a certain candidate.   That is enough to make me vote against the candidate!

What are your plans for Halloween?

I want to know what you plan to do this Halloween.  Will you trick or treat with the kids?  Are you taking the safe route and attend a Halloween party with close friends and family?  How about visiting the cemetary or a Haunted House?   Better yet, can you suggest something out of the same routine to do?   Let me know!

Can you live without any money?

For one year, A man by the name Josh Stevens was able to do it.  He is an Accountant, so I am sure he knows how to budget, but, without any money next to impossible.   So, I thought.  He proved me wrong.  He uses Groupon Coupons.  The 28 year old used Groupons for transportation, to redeem clothing, and to assemble his paper outfit that he was wearing when he was discovered in Chicago last May.   As you have probably guessed, this is all part of a Contest by Groupons.com.  Groupons is a online site that offers 50% -90% off of local goods, services, as well as, events.  First, sign-up, then check your email for coupons.  Second, share with friends via email social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).  Last step is to print the coupon voucher and present to the business.  What is great about Groupons is that you can even personalize your coupon.  Try it for yourself.  Visit http://www.groupons.com/ and let me know what you think.

Segment: Have you ever wondered?

Have you ever wondered will be ongoing on my blog.  What is it?  It is a segment that will highlight questions that you may have pondered, but didn't have an answer for it.

Q:Why can you see yourself in the mirror?

A: Biggest book of questions and answers, state that everything you see comes from light rays that bounce off objects and bounce back to your eyes.  A mirror is glass with a shiny chemical coating on the back.  When you stand in front of a mirror, light rays bounce off your body onto the mirror's coating.  Then the rays relect, to your eyes.

Interesting.

Where are your kids?

For some people, the answer  is "I don't know".   According to http://www.msn.com%20article/, a 23 year-old man left his son in his Lexus Suv for 25 hours.  The man and boy were last seen leaving a wedding approximately at 9:30 pm. The 23 year-old was extremely drunk and was arrested for public intoxication around 10:30 pm.  At the time, the police were'nt aware that this man had a child with him.  The mother reported that both her partner and son were missing and thankfully, the child was discovered by a citizen that was searching for the little boy.  The three year old was sleeping peacefully.  The father was held on a $10,000 bail on Sunday night.

Looking for ways to earn extra cash?

If you are seeking ways to make a buck or too quickly, let me give you suggestions.   Think about skills that are useful for freelance opportunities. Once you have done so, visit  http://www.guru.com/ for freelance jobs for you to bid on.  Elance is similar to Guru.com that it is also a freelance website.  Next, visit http://www.textbroker.com/ for writing assignments.  However, textbroker requires that you write a brief essay, in order for them to assess your writing level.  Afterward, they will list of writing opportunities according to your skill level.  There are plenty of online survey websites, such as, surveyhead, valued opinions, etc.

Do you want to earn cash the old-fashioned way?  Might I suggest you try out temporary agencies.  Some Universities have an internal temporary agency you might want to inquire.

Well, I hope this helps with your job hunting.

Keep an eye on your vehicle....Car thefts are on the rise.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Car theft has increased.  It is reported that the cause of the rise is "Joyriders".   The motivation for stealing the cars is not to make a profit but to have fun?   Is it worth the risk to go to the slammer for fun?  There isn't a need for survival for breaking the law?

If you have these vehicles you might want to watch them closely, they are the top 10 stolen cars in illinois 2009.

1. 1995 Honda Civic

When it rains it pours............

I am flabbergasted at the unmitigated gall that some people have in Chicago.   Recently, my neighbor was robbed in broad daylight next to his house.  He is an elderly gentleman that is respected by many in our community.  About two weeks ago, his wife died unexpectedly and he is trying to recoup from her death, as well as, deal with this matter at hand.  It is unfortunate that people have resorted to selecting the elderly as victims of crime.  Prayerfully, the perpetrators will be caught in Jesus name.

The right place at the right time....has its benefits!

Being informed of little things can make life a little easier.  For instance, knowing the right time to take a restroom break from a movie without missing the best part of the movie, or the best time to grocery shop, or taking a walk.

The Scouts saying "Be prepared" can't be more relevant in this case.  At the movies it is almost a guarantee that you will visit the restroom at some point.  However, it seems that the "some point" happens when the drama in the movie starts.  Now you can avoid that annoyance by simply going to http://www.runpet.com/ to find lists of movies along with time suggestions for taking a break before the action begins.

Who would have ever believed that it is a perfect time to shop online!  http://www.shopittome.com/ states that the best times to shop online are on Wednesday and Thursdays to find the biggest saviings on the average.  Retailers put new items on sale those days as well.

Finally, the best time to grocery shop is Wednesday specified by the Supermarket Association.  This is day was reported to be the least crowded, more selection and shelves are packed.  But hold on a minute, Urban areas best time to shop is on Sunday and Mondays.

Question of the day: Would you rat out your boss if he were cheating Uncle Sam?

Do you know that Uncle Sam is paying you to snitch on your boss, landlord, neighbor or father-in-law? According to the MSN website, the IRS will pay you to inform Uncle Sam of the cheaters' shinanigans. Yeah of course you could be fired, evicted, or ostrasized if your either of them found out, but you will be a lot richer. Supposedly, you are giving Uncle Sam an annonymous tip. So maybe he/she won't find out. This article continues to state that the tax fraud, including penalties, interest and possessions must add up to at least $2 million. If it is an individual committing the fraud, they have to earn $200,000 annually. Before you decide what to do, first ask yourself if it is worth it? Is it okay to cheat the government if you're poor? Ha! Ha! Don't do it.

Numerous women are faced with the dillema to work or become a stay at home mom. Some women are forced to become a stay at home mom because of lack of resources to assist them with their kids. If you are a single without relatives, you are up a creek without a paddle. It isn't worth going to work for a minimum wage paying job trying to manage the paycheck for child care, transportation and other necessary expenses. In essence, they are forced to be a stay at home mom. But you can still earn a paycheck. Companies like Alpine Access and Live Ops offer stay at home moms opportunities to make at least $9.00 per hour. I know it isn't much money, but considering that you are home with your kids, and you don't have to commute makes it worth checking.

Now of course there are some stipulations, but its workable. You can be an asset to the company if you have prior customer service experience, as well as,with the necessary home office equipment to get you started. I say that it is worth a try. It's a wonderful idea to have the pleasure to be with your kids, save money and work! Now that's a triple threat!

Do you have an emergency savings fund?

During these economic times, it is especially difficult to save. However, this is exactly the reason you need to have money set aside for future downturns. Start by trimming your monthly expenses. Maybe you can stop purchasing lunches for restaurants and prepare a lunch instead. By doing so, you can save $5-$10 a day, which translates to $25-$50 a week or $100-$200 a month. You can save $1000-$2400 a year. What if you are the type of person who thinks that it is impossible for you to stop buying a lunch everyday, then consider every other day to save a few extra bucks. Another way you can save money is to try to increase your income by selling merchandise on ebay or a blog. This is a more positive system to begin saving without feeling restricted from budgeting. Have you considered taking surveys or participating in focus groups? This might be an alternative to pocket extra $$$. It is important to save at least $500 in case an emergency may arise. Use some of these tactics to increase your savings.

Did you watch the Grammy's?

Can anyone tell me the highlights of the Grammy's? I missed it last night. There was a time when I use to anxiously await its appearance. Needless to say, that doesn't happen anymore. After watching it for many years, it becomes redundant. When you are older, the stars you want to see aren't in the limelight anymore. Maybe that is why certain award shows lure its older viewers by conducting the older celebrities with lifetime achievement awards. Anywho, enlighten me about the specifics.

A Travesty in Haiti.

The devastating 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti has caused more than 100,000 injured people. According to Jean Wyclef, the number is closer to 400,000 to 500,000 getting ready to die. The talented star has stated that "We have to raise a million dollars a DAY." This is an enormous amount of money and we have to open our hearts to help to reach this goal as much as possible.

Have compassion for Haiti and Text "Yéle" to 501501, resulting in a donation of $5 to the Yéle Haiti Earthquake Fund. There are other sites that will allow you to donate money, do your research. However, I would definitely trust giving my money to Jean Wyclef, seeing that he was born in Haiti. Maybe you want to give money to an organization known for relief efforts such as the Red Cross. You can click on the link above to their website.

I know, we are struggling here in the USA--But not like Haiti. $5.00 won't make or break you. So give a helping hand.

Now that you mastered the other puzzle....try this one!
